Important Information for Travel to the UK From 08 June 2020

From Monday 8 June the UK Government is introducing a 14 day quarantine period for all passengers arriving in the country. Certain exemptions have been established, including for truck drivers. This means that your drivers are exempt from this Quarantine period whilst at work.

They will, however, need to comply with the requirement to complete an online declaration of the reason for their journey (visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/public-health-passenger-locator-form).

Any non-driving passenger in the cab will not be exempt from quarantine requirements and risks being refused entry to the UK, so please ensure that only persons directly involved in freight transport are carried on board your trucks.

“The latest information and guidance on these measures can be found at: www.gov.uk/uk-border-control and exemptions here www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-travellers-exempt-from-uk-border-rules

We are still waiting for the final details of the scheme and for the official communications materials to be sent from the UK government and will add them to our communications as soon as they are available. Le Shuttle Freight will continue to provide regular updates on the evolution of this UK government scheme via our website, social media and through email.

In order to ensure that your drivers continue to be able to travel to the UK, you must ensure that they are carrying evidence of a completed form on a mobile device. This may be checked by Border force officers at the Passport Control Point.
